Lewis Hamilton has denied being disrespectful to his engineers by telling them to stop giving him information, then getting angry when they don’t give him enough.
Asked about the lively exchange of information over team radio at the USGP, when Lewis was asked to look after his tyres and answered with: “That’s what I’m doing man, let me focus,” and “I’m trying to!” Lewis said that he’s never enjoyed being talked to at moments of maximum concentration.
It all stemmed back from an appearance on Blue Peter at the age of six when he was trying to win a radio controlled model race and presenter John Leslie started trying to talk to him in the middle of the race. “I really wanted to win that race against the older kids,” said Lewis, “and all of a sudden there was this guy trying to ask me questions.”
Lewis went on to win the race and the rest, as we know, is history.
